Many of us take our garage door openers for granted. We press a button and the door automatically opens, but what about when a problem develops and an emergency situation occurs.
What is an emergency garage doors repair situation:
The definition of an emergency situation can vary according to the individual case. For some, one of the key garage door parts has broken meaning the door has become dangerous, such as in the case of broken garage door springs. For others it may be that the door is tuck open or closed and they need to access or secure the garage. However, in many cases the emergency situation can be avoided.
How to avoid having an emergency:
It is impossible to completely eliminate the risk of component breaking and causing the need for repair. However, there are a number of things which can be done to reduce the risk significantly. These include:
* Be aware of your system - take a little time to study the components which make up your garage door opener. This will make it easier to spot any elements which are showing particular wear or damage.
* Inspect it regularly - Once every month, examine the components to check for potential problems. Pay particular attention to the garage door track for any bends, springs which look overstretched and rusted parts. Listen to the opener running, if it sounds excessively noisy try to investigate the cause.
* Regular maintenance - A simple practice of regularly lubricating all the moving parts can keep your opener functioning smoothly. Use a lightweight product on the springs, rollers and other moving parts. Tighten up any loose bolts or fittings and clean the door and sensors fully to prevent corrosion and potential malfunctions.
